Do you want to support the taxonomic experts that keep an eye on the correct names of marine life?

Belgian citizens can enjoy a tax benefit (tax reduction of 45% of the donated amount per year). Therefore, include the word 'donation' and personal details (full name, national registry number and address) in an email to filantropie@vliz.be. Companies should also include the company number. We will provide a tax certificate in the first quarter of the year following the donation(s).

WoRMS, the World Register of Marine Species, is the reference list of all life in the ocean. More than 200 editors work on this list worldwide, each with their expertise within a taxonomic group, on a voluntary basis. Completing and correcting the world list requires an enormous effort. Through donations, we manage to provide WoRMS editors with additional research potential every year thanks to scholarships worth 500 euros.
